Welcome to BODYaSana

Welcome to BODYaSana! If you are looking to feel stronger and more confident through an exercise program designed to fit your specific personality and goals, you have come to the right place. In Latin, sana means health, and my goal as a trainer is to help you find a healthy and sustainable lifestyle to boost every part of your life. Laughter is not only the best medicine, but the best form of cardio and abs, so we’ll always be laughing while we work.

No two bodies are exactly the same, so no two exercise programs should be either. I want to meet you where you are and help you get to where you want to be. Most importantly, I want you enjoy the space in between! As a yoga and barre instructor, personal trainer, and former dancer, I can provide a variety of options and tools to find exercise you want to do (or at least don’t NOT want to do). As a subscriber to the Health at Every Size (HAES) principles and signer of the HAES pledge, my focus as a trainer is not on weight loss, but on overall health and body acceptance. I want to shift exercise from being seen as a punishment, requirement, or way to “earn” food and shrink ourselves (NO!) that reflects on your self-discipline and worth to something we do for joy, mental and physical nourishment, and to fill ourselves up and build confidence. I have experience working with people with chronic injuries and illnesses, those rehabbing from surgery, and people who just don’t believe exercise is for them. Together we can find some way of moving your body that brings you fulfillment and positivity.

About Sana

Sana Klein, RYT-200, ACE-Certified Personal Trainer, Functional Training Specialist

My path to teaching and training was really a path to finding a form of exercise I didn’t despise. From the age of eight through my time as president of my dance company in college, I found my passion and physical activity through dance. I still take dance classes whenever I can in any style available (any companies out there needing a principal dancer, give me a call), but I needed to find more regular forms of movement that I wanted to do. After trying various classes at various gyms and studios (no, thank you, Cross Fit), I found cardio dance, Pilates, and barre, and, for the first time ever, I actually found myself looking forward to workouts. The beauty of dance was that I never felt like it was exercise – it was just purely for pleasure, expression, and self-care.

With their roots in dance, specifically ballet, Pilates and barre were as close as I could regularly get to being back in dance class and the joy I find there without actually putting on a leotard. This motivated me to get certified and share this enjoyment with others, and I quickly realized that the couple of hours a week I was teaching barre were vastly more rewarding than 40+ hours of my office job. It was through the first studio where I taught barre that I met Jasmine Margreno (ERYT-500) and revisited yoga after having tried it a few times in high school and college. With her, I finally understood why people were so into it. My rise to fame in dance was limited by arthritic feet, which led to bad knees and a bad back, and yoga has helped tremendously in improving these ailments and keeping the aches and pains away.

After completing my 200-hour teacher training with The Om Factory in May 2019, I moved to Horseheads, NY to spend a year diving full-time into yoga and teaching at Jasmine’s studio Vibrant Life Yoga. During this year, I also got my personal training certification through the American Council on Exercise.

My favorite part of teaching is getting to know each student and being able to tailor each workout according to his or her experience, previous injuries, and specific goals. Even in a group class, each student’s needs can be attended to by offering different modifications and challenges.  Because of my own history of chronic injuries, my main priority is helping students have the proper technique so they get the most out of class without injury and with enjoyment, self-care, and personal growth. And maybe even a chance to laugh – probably at me.

“While my husband and I are more mature yogis, Sana has always encouraged both of us and offered modifications. She has a in depth knowledge of body mechanics which enables her to teach all levels and a variety of classes. She is an enthusiastic powerhouse with her playlists and "fun facts"!”

— Chip and Kay K.

“Sana is an awesome yoga instructor.  Her classes are challenging yet she offers modifications for those who prefer less of a challenge.  One of her greatest gifts to her students is that her classes are fun and she makes you feel a part of the experience.  I would look forward to taking her class because I knew I would leave the studio with not only having had a great workout and a feeling of peace, but also a sense of community and belonging.”

— Joy P.

“I have had the pleasure of taking many styles of yoga with Sana over the last nine months. Sana has an amazing ability to make you feel comfortable. Sana is extremely knowledgeable about what she is teaching. She naturally adds a little humor to her classes yet is able to challenge and encourage at the same time! My favorite reason for taking her classes is that she always changes it up so you are never bored!

Highly recommend this young lady as an exercise instructor!”

— Tammy W.

“As a bit of a fitness addict, there are few fitness classes or trends I haven't tried. From half-marathons and Crossfit to pole dancing and sculpt and yoga, I have done and loved it all. Sana is hands-down the best trainer/instructor/coach I have ever worked with. When I was diagnosed with a chronic illness in 2018 and found out that exercise and elevated heart rate are triggers, I thought my days of enjoying fitness were over. Then, I began working with Sana. Through simple, socially-distanced workouts with minimal equipment, Sana has helped me build strength, mobility, and cardio while monitoring my exertion level to keep me safe and able to stay healthy and consistent. That alone would have been enough to earn my eternal gratitude, but Sana didn't stop there. With her extensive knowledge of body mechanics and her background in multiple types of movement, Sana has helped me correct movement patterns that had caused nagging irritation throughout the years and work muscles I had somehow never discovered! She has taught me how to treat myself with kindness and compassion and embrace my new, healthier, kinder relationship with movement and my body, all while making me laugh my ass off and dancing to fire playlists. Thank you, Sana!!”

— Sabina L.

“I cannot say enough about Sana as a yoga teacher (and as a human!)--she’s got such a great balance of softness and edge, mixed with humor and straight-fire, on-point playlists that a yogi cannot help but fall in love!

The initial thing that impressed me was in one of her earliest classes, she didn’t teach from her mat. She was a brand new yoga teacher who didn’t even roll out her mat for class--she walked through the room, adjusted, and taught with the confidence of veteran. From that moment, I was hooked!

I’ve taken a wide variety of her classes--she’s pushed me in a power flow, offered inspiration on Independence Day, built strength and focus in a slow flow,  and encouraged me to soften in a yin class or a deep-stretch. I kid you not, this girl can do it all. And she does a damn good job, every single time. And did I mention how much I love her playlists? You’ll appreciate every single minute.”

— Kristie R.

“I’ve had the pleasure to meet and flow with Sana as she brought the North Carolina heat into our hot yoga studio in New York over the past year. Creating an  open and fun environment has allowed for me to really open up into my yoga practice and try new poses/variations that I have never done before. She brings her positive and energetic personality to every class and her encouragement helps me get through the burn of a hot yoga class. Also you can’t miss out on the fun fact of the day at the end of every class!”

— Stephanie S.

“Sana is lighthearted and full of good vibes! I have been taking her yoga and sculpting classes for the past year and have enjoyed how she is able to motivate you while not putting pressure on you. After training with Sana you will feel like you not only got a great workout (and will feel "good sore" after) but you also feel like you hung out with a fun friend and had a great time laughing and being together. She is a joy to be around and great at what she does ... I can't recommend her enough!”
